The structure
Woden’s Folk is not a “membership organization” in any shape or form, nor is it a bureaucratic organization with a formal structure. We have no formal leadership structure outside our local Hearth System. The Folk-Warder is the National Leader & National Organizer who has a Folk-Witan made up of close and trusted WF Activists who give good rede (counsel) and advice where needed. At a local level the Hearth Warder is the Local Leader and Local Organizer. This structure means that we lack the bureaucracy of some “organizations”, and we need limited funds in order to keep going, for “expenses” are minimal. This structure means that we do not need to raise funds by any donations except those of our yearly donated subscription, plus the leaflets and booklets that we produce ourselves. We can give our WF Activists and WF Supporters what they want in sales stuff via alternative routes outside the main structure of our Movement.
The strength of Woden’s Folk lays in its local WF Hearths, which are cells within the whole, and work towards self-reliance as much as possible. The Hearth Warder is a local leader who runs and organizes the local group. Where it is possible, and where there is a WF Hearth, we shall try to put interested people into contact with the Hearth. This allows individuals to get active in their own area if there is an established group there.
There are always a small number of people who are born to lead, and there is plenty of scope for the leader-type individual to create and build a local WF Hearth. All that is needed is to gain a Wodenic Profession which takes around 12 months of active work. Even in areas where we have an established WF Hearth we could sometimes encourage competition at that level.
Our Movement works at two levels –
-
At a national level we work through co-operation which is why we stick to the rule of having our own national magazines, newsletters, literature, and website etc. and discouraging competition against these.
-
At a local level we encourage competition between WF Hearths, since healthy competition ensures that the movement does not stagnate. People need to compete, to win and to lose sometimes; this ensures that entropy does not set in.
There are other levels within Woden’s Folk which the individual can attain; these will become clear to those who get involved at one level or another. Ours is not an open “organization” that seeks to recruit, for those who come to us do so through the Call of the Blood. They hear a calling that awakens them to the English Struggle. There is no place within Woden’s Folk for the ego-centred individual who seeks self-gratification and self-interest. That is why our mottos tells us –
The strength of the Pack is the Wolf
The strength of the Wolf is the Pack
This simple motto, taken from Rudyard Kipling, tells all; the strength of the group is the individual within that group, but the strength of the individual lies in his ability to become part of the pack, and to act with others as a group and a “pack”. As you will see from the work that is done by Woden’s Folk, the symbol of the Wolf is paramount within our movement.
