Honour & Loyalty!
Folk-Greetings & Sun-Hael!
Welcome to Woden’s Folk, England’s first and foremost Wodenist Movement. Woden’s Folk was set up on April 23rd 1998 to create a new Folk-Religion for the English Folk, and since that day we have formed the basis for a religion suited to the English struggle for freedom. Why do we need a religion anyway? This question can be answered by using the meaning of the term “religion”, which means to bind together. We need a new religion in order to bind together the English people into a unit capable of surviving in a world that seeks to destroy us entirely. No political change will serve this purpose, for politics (as we can all see) factionalizes and splits people up, serving different opinions and tastes. Party-politics is divisive, whereas a religion binds a people together. Only a spiritual revolution, the driving force behind it being a new and virile Folk-Religion, will effect change in a land where drastic change is needed if the indigenous peoples (the Anglo-Saxons) are to survive at all.
The English are descended from the Germanic Folk, and their religion will reflect their roots; it will spring from the Folk-Soul of the English, and not be imposed upon them from alien sources. The most ancient religion of the English is Wodenism, for Woden is the All-Father of the English Folk. Woden is the English name for Wotan (German) and Odin (Norse); the name would possibly have been sounded – uuooden, which would have been little difference than “Odin”. Ours is a polytheistic faith with various gods and goddesses, and is based upon a Nature-Religion that upholds Natural Law, and a Warrior-Religion that upholds the concept of the Virile Male Warrior and the Männerbünde as the basis of recreating this archetype.
Wodenism is akin to Odinism and Wotanism, where these are race-conscious and uphold the concept of race as being important. This is not “racist” in the sense given to this word by the Established Order, for we recognize that all nations, peoples and races of this planet are threatened with destruction by the Forces of Darkness and Matter that hold sway over the world at this time. It has to be understood that any religion has to come from within a people –from the Folk-Soul of that people – and not be imposed from without, as was the case with the Judaeo-Christian religion which was forced upon the English (and others) by the carrot and the whip. But Wodenism also differs in many respects from its kindred Odinism and Wodenism.
-
Wodenism is a specifically English Religion for the English Folk; it is a religion tailored to suit a specific section of the Germanic Peoples. Yet that is only in respect of Woden’s Folk and its activities, for it is here in England that we can organize activity and groups. To do so elsewhere would be counter-productive. Each country is better suited in having its own organizations and groups. As a Folk-Religion Wodenism can be tailored to any Folk-Group within the Germanic Folk, though the way that we are building it is primarily aimed at the English Folk.
-
It differs in one specific way from both Odinism and Wotanism; this difference lies in the recognition within Wodenism of a new archetype or god-force that rules over a new world-age. In the Nineteenth Century, Friedrich Nietzsche declared that “God is dead!” which opened him to the accusation of being an atheist. This accusation is misleading, for to declare that “God is dead!” one must believe in a god in the first place – so one cannot be an atheist. Others followed this by declaring that “Odin is dead!” which naturally upsets many Odinists; but there is another way of looking at both of these statements. What Nietzsche and others were declaring was the death of the Hanged God whether this is Christ, Odin, or any other archetypal figure that hung upon a cross, tree, or whatever. The statement declared that the Age of the Hanged God was dying, and that a new age, and thus a new god-force (archetype) was coming into being – this new god-force we call Ing (“The Son”) or Wid-Ar the Avenger, son of Woden. Many German Magicians and Mystics recognized the approach of a new world-age, well before this concept was taken up by the “New Age Movement” – a spiritual distortion of the true Age of Ing – Age of the Son. The most important difference between Odinism, Wotanism and the Wodenist Movement is that Wodenism recognizes and promotes the new archetype of the Crowned and Avenging Son of the Sun, rather than the outworn archetype that belongs to the dying era of the Age of Christ or Age of Pisces. The Avenging Son is the figure of Woden reborn after being swallowed by the Wolf’s Jaws (an astronomical event). Woden has “stepped down” from the Tree of Woe and has been reborn as Wid-Ar the Avenging Son.

Wodenism is a Solar Religion as opposed to the more feminine Lunar Religions, which include Christianity. In today’s society we see a marked rise in the feminine, mainly through the distorted feminist movement. The “Wiccan Movement” is all part of this rise in the feminine, which is why this is mainly “goddess” orientated. Judaeo-Christianity has often been labeled as a “patriarchal” religion; however, since its main aim was to turn the All-Father (in his role as the Horned God) into “The Devil”, it was in reality the Virile Male Warrior ethos that Christianity set out to destroy. As Friedrich Nietzsche rightly stated, Christianity set out to tame the Blond Beast (the Teutonic Warrior), hardly a role of a totally patriarchal religion. It is true to say that Christianity oppressed the female too, especially in the role of the Wise Woman and the healers, herbalists etc. It set out to distort and to destroy our Folk through different means at different times. The archetype of Jesus Christ riding an ass or donkey underlines the nature of this religion, for it was based upon the rebellion of the lower orders in order to disrupt the Divine Order of the Gods. The ass or donkey is symbolic of the lower order – the masses. This was a religious movement which paved the way for the later “Communism” or “Socialism” which was merely a secular movement of the same hue – the upturning of the Divine Order of the Gods by the revolt of the masses (the “mass” or “material” element of society). The White Horse is symbolic of the true Solar Religion and the Solar Warrior. The nature of today’s lunar religions needs to be fully understood in order to understand Wodenism. There have been numerous attempts to discredit the “Aryans” who were the most ancient Solar Warriors; the underlying theme is always that a peaceful matriarchal society was rudely interrupted and overthrown by a “nasty” solar dominated male warrior-ethos. That this “matriarchal society” was far from peaceful is rarely stated. The title “Magna Mater” (“Great Mother” or “Great Mother Goddess”) is given to the ruling female deity; the title “mater” (mother”) relates this to the concept of matter. What is clearly not understood by scholars who promote this distorted idea is that times change, and different deities are worshipped as need arises. In peaceful times fertility gods and gods of peace and plenty would be worshipped; in warlike times (the times that we live through today) warrior-gods would be worshipped. Today we live in the worst and most devastating time of the Cycle of the Ages – the Dark Age, Warg-Age or Kali Yuga – and in such times our gods-forms will change to suit. The forces that have taken control of the Earth are the Forces of Darkness and Matter – opposed to this must be a Solar Religion based upon the Ur-Religion of our Folk.

The archetype of the Virile Male Warrior is important to the ethos of Wodenism; the ancient figures such as the Long Man of Wilmington (with the phallic-shaped long-barrow above it) and the Herne Giant (Cerne Abbas Giant) with his erect phallus, are not just fertility gods (as most pagans would have it) but also gods representing the Virile Male Warrior. Believe it or not, this is why both bear weapons of one sort or another – spears (which were later altered to make the figure less “aggressive”) in the case of the Long Man, and a club (the weapon of the God of the Männerbünde) in the case of the Herne Giant. In times when a people are threatened with destruction, the virile male principle is of extreme importance, and the fertility of its people paramount. The production of strong, healthy children is the only means of securing the existence of a people into the future. The archetype of the male Warrior-God has to become part of the English psyche once more.
-
The concept of the Männerbünde is also of extreme importance to our struggle; this was a male age-set grouping to which the young male would belong in order to achieve manhood, and to become part of the tribe. The God of the Männerbünde is Woden, whilst the Tribal God was Tiw or Teuta. Anyone who has seen the film 300 which features the ancient Spartans will recognize how the young Æthlinga-Warrior was separated early from the mother and the tribe, thrown out into the wilderness in order to learn survival skills, hunting skills, and the warrior skills needed for him to become a tribal leader. The mother (female) ensured the material needs of the young boy, whilst the Männerbünde (male) ensured the spiritual needs were fulfilled. The banishment to the forests, wearing the wolf-skin in many cases as part of a “wolf-pack”, ensured that the young Æthlinga-Warrior was able to become self-reliant and self-sufficient, and to grow into a strong man, becoming a leader within his tribe, or going “a-Viking” into other lands to take land, plunder and strong women in order to create an offshoot of the tribe – ever-expanding as it needed to be. The One-Eyed Hunter-God – the Wolf-God – known to us as Woden, was the god who presided over the Warrior Initiation in the ancient forests and the wilderness. Only by going into the chaos of the wilderness could the young warrior learn how to create order and to uphold the Primal Order which had been created by the Ancestors in very ancient times.

One of the most important (at this time) archetypes or god-forms is that of the God of the Heri; this god-form is an aspect of Woden, related to the Teutonic Männerbünde. The terms heri, here hari, ari, and even Aryan derive from a root that means “to harry, to plunder, to raid” and this is why the Vikings were termed here by the Christianized Anglo-Saxons. The term is related to ein-heriar which is a mythological aspect of the same thing – the “one-harrier”. Hari-Woden or Ara-Hari is a god-name we Wodenists use for the one-eyed hunter-god and god of the raid. The symbol of this god-form or archetype is the Skull &Crossbones. This is the symbol of the Männerbünde, for the young warrior was a wolf’s head living in a liminal state, outside the norm of society, and living by plunder, raids, hunting and killing for food and survival. We can clearly see here why the pirates (plunderers and raiders) used the Skull & Crossbones as their symbol; even today this symbol incorporates an eye-patch signifying the One-Eyed Hunter-God known to us as Woden.
-
Wodenism seeks the balance of light and darkness within the individual; this is clear from The Hooded Man Prophecy which forms the basis of our work. Any new religion will be created by a prophet of some kind. The Hooded Man Prophecy forms the basis of the Folk-Religion of Wodenism.
-
The Hooded Man Prophecy and Wulf’s Prophecy form the basis of Wodenism in yet another, and most important, way. Woden’s Folk was created in order to found a new Folk-Religion that would prepare the way for the coming of The Hooded Man, whom we see as the Last Avatara and Incarnation of Woden upon the Earth at the ending of the Warg-Age or Kali Yuga. This figure is that which the ancients recognized – “When justice is crushed, when evil is triumphant, then I come back. For the protection of the good, for the destruction of evil-doers, for the establishment of the Reign of Righteousness, I am born again and again, age after age.” (Bhagavad Gita 4 : 7-8). The famous occultist, Gurdjieff) was well aware of the idea of an avatara, though he did not use the title here - “He (Gurdjieff) said that from time to time from another world - ‘from Above’ - a Sacred Individual is incarnated in human form with a very high and special mission, the working of which is not visible in this world and which can only be perceived by the disciples or companions who are specially prepared. This mission is not performed in this world except in so far as the being who is engaged in it is incarnated in human form. A certain possibility is introduced from a realm where the impossible doesn’t exist. It is something new which doesn’t belong to the cause and effect of this world, and therefore changes the whole situation. The doing of this and how it is done is unseen; but, in general, it is then necessary that something should be seen, manifested, so that the particular new thing should be able to operate in the visible world amongst people with ordinary perceptions. It is to fulfil that second part of the mission that the sacred image is created and this sacred image has unlimited power in it, because its source is beyond the existing world. That sacred image we see as the founder of a religion, as a prophet or as an incarnation of God, who introduces a new hope into the life of man.” We can see from this quote that an avatara is a “sacred individual” who is “incarnated in human form with a very high and special mission”. This “sacred individual” introduces a “possibility, from a realm where the impossible doesn’t exist”, in other words a New Order is introduced with a new set of ideas, which will never be understood by the mass of the people – only “by the disciples or companions who are specially prepared”. This is all done at an unseen level, though a “sacred image” is created so as to manifest the new thing, and to be able to operate in the visible world “amongst people with ordinary perceptions”. This “sacred image” is either the founder of a new religion, a prophet, or an incarnation of God who “introduces a new hope into the life of man”. It is our belief that the Last Avatara and Incarnation of Woden upon the Earth will take place here in England. That is one of the prime reasons that Woden’s Folk and the new Folk-Religion of Wodenism was created in 1998.
-
Prophecy is a major part of Wodenism, and it is usual for the founder of any new religion to be a prophet too. Prophecy is the creation of the sacred image mentioned above, and it serves to change the future in accordance with Natural Law. We have been criticized for using prophecy, yet we find plenty of instances (as we shall show) of prophecy in Norse Mythology, and also in other texts of relevance. Woden himself was a seer or prophet who was able to foresee the patterns of Wyrd that show what could come about in the future.
-
The last major difference we should mention is that Wodenism also promotes the most ancient Polar Mythos which is usually related to the Primal Tradition. It is our belief that our own English Mythology contains reference to an ancient polar island in the far north which dates back to a Golden Age. This is the Myth of Sceaf which contains references to an island named Scandiwhich we believe to be another name of Thule or Atalland – from which came the later named “Atlantis”. This Polar Mythos thus centres around a lost island in the far north which “sank” (literally, or sank into the subconscious, or both) at the end of the Golden Age. This is the Sacred Centre of our Folk and which remains deep in the subconscious mind, and surfaces now and again as a “lost land” or an “inner earth” or a “sunken island” etc. To reconnect to that Sacred Centre is the aim of Wodenism.
The Woden Folk-Religion which is now being created and spread amongst the English Folk is named “Wodenism”, although the title Woden Folk-Religion would seem to be more appropriate in that it refers specifically to the new Folk-Religion being promoted by Woden’s Folk. Not all those who call themselves “Wodenists” promote these ideas. Indeed, so far as I can see, Woden’s Folk is unique in promoting all of these ideas. Where you see the name “Wodenism” it does not necessarily mean that it refers to our own unique Woden Folk-Religion. When we use the term Folk this has nothing whatever to do with the inert masses; it has to do with the building of a new English Folk-Community which will serve as a microcosm for a future revived English Nation.
The German philosopher Friedrich Hegel coined the formula – thesis vs antithesis = synthesis; this was a concept also well known to the founder of Communism, Karl Marx (who must, then, have realized that capitalism and socialism would one day fuse together, maybe into the “communitarianism” of today). This formula simply means that the conflict of opposites creates a fusion of the two. We have already seen how capitalism and socialism has fused into “communitarianism”; we may well witness the fusion of Christianity and Islam into a world religion due to their ever-growing conflict. The point to make here is that to oppose a concept through creating its opposite will lead to a fusion of both. The Fenris Wolf is opposed by the Wolf-God, Woden! In the Age of the People (the masses) maybe there is a need to oppose it by a similar movement – a movement of the Folk.
In looking at the idea of The Hooded Man and the concept of The Last Avatara it is necessary to realize what this really is. Things are not always as they seem. It is only out of a time of disorder, chaos and total destruction that there will appear a great Folk-Hero who will take control and lead the people back to right. Here in England that great Folk-Hero is The Hooded Man whose appearance is foretold in our times. It is just as if a nation needs to be put through the harshest of trials and tribulations before such a figure can arise. This was recognised by Carl Gustav Jung when he wrote this section of Four Archetypes – The Trickster –
“Only out of disaster can the longing for the saviour arise – in other words the recognition and unavoidable integration of the shadow creates such a harrowing situation that nobody but a saviour can undo the tangled web of fate.”
It should be noted that Carl Jung sees this archetype in the figure of a Trickster-God; this is not Loki the Trickster, but in this case Woden in his role of a Trickster-God and as the Divine Fool. The figure of the Divine Fool can be found in the Long Man of Wilmington, and this is why this has been adopted as the Spiritual Centre of the Woden Folk-Religion. It should be clear that the figure of The Hooded Man may not be quite what is expected!
“In the days of the Lion, spawned of the Evil Brood, The Hooded Man shall come to the forest. There he will meet with Herne the Hunter – Lord of the Trees – to be his Son, and do his bidding. The Power of Light and the Power of Darkness shall be strong within him. And the guilty shall tremble!”
The above is The Hooded Man Prophecy given to Wulf Ingessunu in a dream on October 31st 1993; this is an altered version of the ancient Prophecies of Gildas, the alterations in words creating a number-system relating to the new Age of Ing and the new archetype of The Hooded Man who will arise in this era. The Hooded Man is the Folk-Hero that will lead the English (here symbolized by the Sword, Albion, which holds within it the balance of the Power of Light and the Power of Darkness). Albion – the White Island – is where this archetypal god-force for the new world-age will incarnate. Albion is the most ancient name of England.
Wulf: Folk-Warder, Woden’s Folk.
